A trail hunting ban
opens the door for wider
game shooting restrictions
If the government moves to ban trail hunting, animal rights groups will exert as much pressure as they can to remove the vital exemptions in the current law which allow dogs to be used for terrierwork, for ratting and rabbiting control, to flush rabbits and hares, and to track wounded deer.
A group of MPs have already drafted a ban for all of this and more
If a trail hunting ban leads to the closure of hunts,
then activists will move on to the next target
game shooting is high on that list
The government is already threatening to:
Restrict shotgun ownership
Regulate game shooting
Remove species from the quarry list
The last thing shooting and the countryside needs is a new front opened by the demise of hunting
